Nodes and faceplates

Lesson 3 of 9

A node is one instance of a module, sample, or sequence on the canvas. It appears as a panel with pins down its sides and its faceplate (knobs, switches, readouts) on its face.

Nodes sit on a grid. Positions are grid units rather than pixels, so a patch looks the same at any zoom and each node packs neatly against its neighbours.

Faceplates come from the module

A module declares its faceplate widgets alongside the parameters they drive, so the control you turn and the value the DSP reads cannot drift apart. Turning a knob on the canvas moves the value in the running engine.
